Haines is the arts capital of Alaska. This site is a portal to all the artists of Haines. I find inspiration in everything I see in my travels and at home. In addition to the Klukwan School and community library. Klukwan hosts many courses around traditional knowledge, languages, and traditional arts. The Tribal Office and the Klukwan Library will be closed Monday, March 26th. And closed Tuesday, March 27th. The Community Meeting will be Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10AM.
Chilkat Lake is located about 30 miles west of Haines, AK in the Chilkat Valley. The Lake is remote with only river access. To get into the lake you have to travel by jet boat or floatplane in the summer and by snowmobile in the winter. The public road system ends approximately 2 miles from the lake and from there you travel by boat or snowmobile into the lake. There are no public utilities. All food, supplies, materials are brought in by one of the methods above.
